Fantasy Role Playing The war of the faery and the gods

In much of mythology the god or gods of a people had a great war with that which came before or simply weakened it into none existance.
and old Swedish Man told a story of a beautiful creature that lived in a rock near his home and helped him with the harvest (notice the closeness they had) as Christianity spread to the town however the creature weakened and shriveled then eventually fled into the mountains.

In your worlds such an event could lead to great wars between the divinity and the faery. Such a war would be massivly climactic and would allow for some intreguing game play catching mortals inbetween to massive powers.

Many of the fey such as the forest king came to be out of such a war, and while the Fairy Manual causes the forest king to have lost and gone into hiding they could instead be hunting the last remnents of the divine it is your world after all.
